Morning Flight to Crown Point
The adventure begins with the 8:00 AM Caribbean Airlines flight from Trinidad to Tobago. Barely 30 minutes later, the plane touches down at Crown Point. What makes this trip so simple is the location, most of Tobago’s highlights sit within walking distance of the airport, making it easy to explore with nothing more than a backpack and good shoes.
Breakfast at Store Bay, Tobago
The first stop is Store Bay Beach, just a short walk from Crown Point Airport. Morning hunger is satisfied at Miss Jean’s, the bake and saltfish was just yummy. Golden, warm and filled with boneless salted cod fish, it’s the kind of breakfast that feels both simple and memorable.

After eating, there’s time for a quick swim at Store Bay. The water is calm, refreshing and almost empty in the early hours. This slow start feels like the perfect way to ease into the day.
Glass-Bottom Boat Adventure
By mid-morning, Store Bay comes alive and the focus shifts to Tobago’s most famous tour: the glass-bottom boat ride to the Nylon Pool. Tickets are found in the best way possible, under the tree at the entrance, from local scalpers who keep the tradition alive.
At 11:00 AM, the boat pulls away from shore. Beneath the glass panel, coral gardens shimmer in vivid colors as fish dart between them. But on this day one of the glass panels came out and we were all fasiniated by the amount of water we can hear swishing around in the middle of the floor. The capitan assured us that the boat wouldn’t sink.
The highlight comes when the boat got anchored at the Nylon Pool, a sandbank off the coast of Buccoo Reef and Pigeon Point. Waist-deep and crystal clear, just like you see on TV.

By 2:00 PM, the boat returns to Store Bay. Sun-kissed and refreshed, it’s time to dry off and continue the day on foot.

Lunch at Chef’s BBQ Tobago
Still within easy walking distance, the next stop is Chef’s BBQ on Milford Road, Tobago. The smoky aroma leads the way before the resturant even comes into view. Here, juicy barbecue chicken is served with macaroni salad, the best combination. A hearty, flavorful lunch that perfectly matches Tobago’s bold food culture.
Quick Stroll to Pigeon Point Tobago stalls
After lunch, take a quick walk along Pigeon Point road. The roadside is lined with stalls offering Tobago’s famous preserves. Bags of Red Mango, cherries, fudge of many flavors, sugar cake and guava cheese make it hard to choose just one. These treats are as much a part of Tobago as its beaches, sweet souvenirs that don’t need a suitcase.
Sunset at Fort Milford Tobago
With time to spare before the flight, there’s one last stop, conveniently close to the airport. Fort Milford, a small British fort built in the 1770s, offers a glimpse into the island’s colonial past. Tobago’s history is a long story of struggle, fought over by European powers more than thirty times before finally coming under British control in 1814. Today, the fort is a peaceful place where cannons still face the sea, but the only battle is between the colors of the setting sun. It’s the perfect final pause before heading home.
Evening Flight Home
As the sky fades, the airport comes back into view. This Trinidad to Tobago day trip itinerary ends with the 7:10 PM return flight and at 7:35 PM, Port of Spain was once again beneath the wings. The backpack feels heavier with wet clothes and bags of preserves, but there’s no need for a car, no stress, just a day perfectly wrapped in sea, food and sunshine.
Tobago proves that paradise doesn’t always require long drives or overnight stays. Sometimes, the best escapes are the ones savored in a single day.
